Central Maine Medical Center

Central Maine Medical Center (CMMC) is a 250-bed regional referral center offering the most comprehensive range of services of any hospital in central, coastal and western Maine. CMMC operates the busiest emergency program in the region and is one of three designated trauma centers in Maine. LifeFlight of Maine, a statewide medical helicopter service, maintains a helicopter and helipad at CMMC. CMMC is the designated regional resource center for emergency preparedness.

CMMC is known for its women's and children's services. More babies are born at its Special Delivery Family Birthing Center than at any other hospital in the region and women have choice of either OB/GYN physicians or midwives. The Neonatal Intermediate Care Unit meets the needs of sick and premature infants. CMMC also offers pediatrics and a pediatric cardiologist.

The Central Maine Fertility Center services are offered in collaboration with Boston IVF. The Sam and Jennie Bennett Breast Care Center offers a full range of diagnostic services, including digital mammography, in a patient-friendly and supportive atmosphere. The Osteoporosis Center provides osteoporosis screening. There is also a Bladder Control Center at 287 Main Street in Lewiston.

CMMC's cancer program serves local patients and patients at outpatient clinics located in Rumford and Bridgton. The hospital's multidisciplinary cancer team is comprised of medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals who together provide the highest level of cancer care. The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing opened in 2008. CMMC is also the only hospital in Maine currently offering Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy, a precise form of treatment that allows for higher doses of radiation and improved cure rates.

The Central Maine Bariatric Surgery program offers both the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and Lap Band surgery for obese patients.

The Central Maine Medical Group (CMMG) is composed of 325 employed physicians and associated medical staff. These providers are members of the Bridgton Hospital, Central Maine Medical Center, Parkview Adventist Medical Center and the Rumford Hospital Medical Staff. CMMG has offices in nineteen Maine communities with over 75 practice settings.

Central Maine Medical Center College of Nursing and Health Professions is the only hospital-based nursing program in Maine. It is an independent degree-granting institution, a two-year private college accredited by the Maine State Board of Nursing, the National League for Nursing, and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). Graduates receive an Applied Science Degree in Nursing.
