About Us
The Androscoggin Land Trust is a land conservation and stewardship organization dedicated to protecting important natural areas, traditional landscapes, and outdoor experience in the Androscoggin River watershed.
Initially the source of life and trade for Native Americans, the Androscoggin River became the primary driver for the development of industry in Androscoggin County. Now, as part of the renaissance of the communities along its banks, the Androscoggin River has become a major recreation attraction for visitors and residents alike, featuring boat access for paddling and motor boats, shoreline fishing areas, and extensive public lands, including Maine’s 5th largest state park in the Androscoggin Riverlands for hiking, picnicking, and other outdoor activities.
In addition to recreational activities, historic assets such as mills, canals, and museums line the downtown riverfront of Lewiston-Auburn to tell the stories of the region’s development.
