About Us

The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. We are a humanitarian organization, led by 1,500 volunteers in Northern New England, that provides relief to those affected by disasters, and empowers individuals in our community to prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.

The American Red Cross supplies 90% of Maine’s blood, responds to more than 500 home fires every year in Northern New England, serves military members, veterans, and their families, and instills community resiliency during an emergency with our life saving CPR and first aid courses.
