
The Volunteers Jazz Band Announces Patriotic Big Band Concert at the Franco Center to Celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary LEWISTON, Maine —
In celebration of the United States’ 250th Birthday, The Volunteers Jazz Band, The Maine Military Community Network and The Lewiston Auburn Veterans Council have announced a special evening of music at the historic Franco Center at 7 p.m. Friday, July 3, 2026. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
"The 250th Anniversary Concert" offers a vibrant, musical tribute to America's rich cultural history, timed perfectly on the eve of Independence Day. Audiences can expect an energetic, soaring program featuring classic swing, definitive big band arrangements, one or two heavy metal pieces, and stirring patriotic favorites. The evening promises to utilize the stunning natural acoustics and historic grandeur of the Franco Center's performance hall to honor the nation's milestone birthday. From timeless jazz standards to powerful anthems that define the American spirit, the repertoire has been meticulously curated to bring the community together in reflection and celebration.
Admission to the concert is free and due to anticipated high attendance for this historic milestone, early arrival is strongly encouraged.

About the Volunteers Jazz Band: The Volunteers Jazz Band is a premier regional ensemble dedicated to performing at no charge for Veterans events and organizations, including the Blue Angels, The Travis Mills Foundation, The Vietnam Seabees and many others. Through high-energy performances and community-focused programming, the band frequently performs for historic commemorations, Veterans' events, and many Veterans Homes throughout Maine.
