Retaining good employees has become even more challenging in the current competitive labor market. Due to the low supply of candidates for open positions as well as the fact that turnover can cost organizations thousands of dollars each year, we need to take a more proactive approach to retention. While the norm is to conduct an Exit Interview when employees give their notice, this is typically being done when the employee has already made a solid decision to leave the organization. Making Stay Interviews part of your culture can give you the information you need to retain good employees before they decide to leave. Additionally, Stay Interviews have been shown to build stronger relationships and increase trust between the leader and their team.
