Celebrate Maine’s history, innovation, and community with us. Join us as we celebrate the grand opening of Maine MILL, a museum dedicated to Maine’s rich history, innovation, and community. Our opening weekend is packed with opportunities to explore the museum, enjoy special events, and celebrate with us!
Friday, June 26 – Soirée en Blanc: 6-8pm Celebrate in style at our signature fundraiser event. Enjoy early access to the museum, live music, and local cuisine crafted from the finest Maine ingredients. Attendees are encouraged to wear all white for this elegant evening of music, food, and celebration.
Saturday, June 27 – Contractors Thank You Breakfast & Coffee: 9-10am Start your Saturday with a warm welcome! Early access to the museum for construction subcontractors who worked on the project and their families, with coffee and light breakfast fare to kick off the day.
Saturday, June 27 – Ribbon Cutting & Opening Ceremony: 10:30am – 12pm Witness the official ribbon cutting and hear from museum leadership, special guests, and community partners. The ceremony will include speeches, a press event, and an opportunity to explore the museum. To celebrate opening weekend, the museum will be free to the public on Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28. Additional special programming will be offered on site.
Sunday, June 28 – Community Planting & Care: 10am – 3pm Join artist Tanja Hollander to help care for and plant community gardens throughout downtown Lewiston as part of the I Love You Gardens project. Meet at the Maine MILL parking lot and proceed to one of the four locations. A check in table will be there throughout the duration of planting. We will care, plant and water. No experience necessary! Families and children welcome. ASL interpreters and light snacks provided.
Sunday, June 28 – Mini Commemorative Brickmaking: 10:30am – 1pm Did you know that terra cotta translates to “baked earth” in Italian? Come learn more and play with terra cotta clay. Join artists Tara Morin and Alexis Iammarino to lend a hand in creating miniature ceramic bricks for the Museum’s programs! You’ll learn how to wedge clay and shape these handfuls of earth into small-but-mighty blocks that will spark imagination and learning for visitors. .
