Get the answer to this question and more. How big is this pie? Who plays what role on a state\, regional and local level? How can you get your piece?\n\n \n\nDina Jackson has been working in the field of tourism and business development for the past thirty years. During her tenure with the Maine Department of Economic & Community Development\, she was responsible for the coordination and management of the State's $1 million business attraction campaign\; the management and promotion of the Maine Products Marketing Program\; and the implementation of the State's tourism marketing programs domestically and abroad.\n\n \n\nDina joined the Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments in August of 1999 and has put her experience to work for the regional planning agency serving the tri-county area of Androscoggin\, Franklin and Oxford Counties. Specifically\, Ms. Jackson is responsible for coordinating the efforts of the Maine's Lakes and Tourism Council to promote Western Maine as a desirable vacation destination. She also serves on the boards of the Maine Sports Commission and Maine Woods Consortium\, in addition to providing marketing technical assistance to businesses throughout the tri-county region.\n\n \nSteve Hewins\, President & CEO\, HospitalityMaine\nTourism is the 'Tip of the Spear' for Maine's Economic Development\n\n \n\nMany are not aware that tourism is Maine's second largest industry behind only healthcare. It employs one out of every ten Mainers\, and produces over $6.5 billion in annual revenue. Maine has become widely recognized as a national leader for its restaurants\, breweries\, tourism\, and quality of life. While Portland has received the most accolades\, Maine's hospitality industry is spreading to regions across the state\, and where it's landing\, the industry is leading a resurgence in local communities\, attracting new residents\, and revitalizing downtowns. Hewins will be discussing how hospitality is driving the Maine brand\, has become the catalyst for Maine's economic development and dispelling the tired notion that the industry's future is only limited to low paying\, seasonal employment.\n\n \n\nSteve Hewins is the President and CEO of HospitalityMaine\, the trade association formed out of the 2018 merger of the Maine Restaurant Association and the Maine Innkeepers Association. Before joining HM\, Hewins was Executive Director of Portland Downtown District. Prior to that Steve was Vice President of Travel and Branch Operations for AAA Northern New England. Hewins began his career by founding Hewins Travel\, which became Maine's largest travel agency prior to being acquired by AAA. Steve Hewins is a graduate of The University of Maine\, and currently sits on the boards of the Maine Tourism Association\, Visit Portland and the University of Maine Alumni Association.
