MMS Chorale Performs Songs from the Movie The Big Chill and Other Motown Hits
On June 8 & 9 at the Gendron Franco Center, the Maine Music Society Chorale will perform “Songs from the Movie The Big Chill and other Motown Hits” Remember when…? Can you believe this year marks the 60th anniversary of Motown? To celebrate this musical milestone, the MMS Chorale will perform arrangements of hits from the soundtrack of the movie The Big Chill as well as many other Motown favorites on Saturday, June 8 at 7:30 pm, and Sunday, June 9 at 3:00 pm, at the Gendron Franco Center in Lewiston. Chorale members have been having a ball rehearsing such memorable tunes as “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” “Stop! In the Name of Love,” and “My Girl.” Join us as we stroll down memory lane with “I Can’t Help Myself,” “Do You Love Me,” and “Please Mr. Postman.” Motown founder Berry Gordy’s goal was to create music for everyone and the songs you’ll hear will prove he achieved that goal. This concert will definitely send you home happily humming “I Heard it Through the Grapevine” from The Big Chill soundtrack or one of the many other classics of the Motown era. For a preview of what’s in store, listen in to John Corrie and Susan Trask on 105.5’s Breakfast Club Tuesday, June 4, at 8:00 a.m. Thank you to our sponsors: Gleason Media, Maple Way Dental Care, Sun Journal, Austin Associates and Lee Automotive.
