Local Food + Craft Beer. What more could you ask for? Uplift LA is brewing a beer with Side By Each Brewing and in the Spirit of Local Food, Local Places. Join us for this 3 part series on the art of crafting a beer using locally grown ingredients, naming, and tasting the community creation - completely designed by YOU! This interactive series highlights the best of what the LA region has to offer - craft beer, local food + agriculture, and most important - after-hours fun!
We're excited to offer this series in person or remote, allowing everyone to meet up, socialize, and participate. And because our in-person landscape frequently changes, be sure to check the FaceBook Link Here for updates as it gets closer to the event. Remote attendees can expect a special pick-up pack that includes the ingredients we will be smelling + tasting in part 1, and the Venn diagram used for naming the Uplift LA beer in part 2.
Part 2: Name It
Choosing a name can be complicated, so we'll be joined by branding experts to help guide us down the "naming the Uplift LA beer" path. You'll create names using the SXE Venn diagram + we'll narrow it down to your favorites - all while enjoying a beer.
Part 3: Taste It
This part is pretty self-explanatory. We'll be revealing the name + tasting the community brew as part of our 40 Under 40 Awards + Celebration!

Matt Johannes and Ben Low founded Side By Each Brewing Co. with the vision of creating a diverse range of beers they’re proud of and serving delicious locally roasted coffee beverages in a welcoming space that fosters friendships old and new. They plan to do this within the framework of a sustainable business that can support the company, themselves and their employees, as well as Auburn and the wider local community.
Matt and Ben became brewers via wildly different routes, but both worked most recently at nearby Baxter Brewing Co., Ben as Director of Brewing Operations, and Matt as Head Brewer. Matt and Ben earned professional brewing certification at the American Brewers Guild, and they love brewing and drinking just about any kind of beer, provided it’s made well. If they had to pick a desert island beer, Ben would choose Fantôme Saison, and Matt wouldn’t get sick of Czech Rebel. Here at Side By Each we love variety. We have at least 12 beers on tap at any given time, most of which are available in growlers, growlettes, and kegs. We’ll offer traditional styles Side by Each with creative, brain-wrinkling inventions. You can count on always finding something you know you’ll love, as well as something new that will challenge and excite your palate.
